Free FreeCell Solitaire Online
FreeCell is the solitaire game where nearly every deal can be won with careful planning. All 52 cards are dealt face up, so there is no luck of the draw: you see everything and choose how to untangle it. Solitaire Play runs FreeCell in your browser for free, with no download or sign-up.
How to Play FreeCell
The goal is to move all 52 cards onto the four foundation piles, one per suit, building each from Ace up to King.
- Tableau: eight columns, all cards face up. Build downward in alternating colors, like a red 7 on a black 8.
- Free cells: four temporary spots, each holding one card. They are your only workspace, so use them sparingly.
- Foundations: four piles at the top right, built up by suit from Ace to King.
Moving Several Cards at Once
You may move a correctly ordered run of cards in one go, as long as you have room to do it. The maximum run is (free cells + 1) × 2 to the power of the number of empty columns. With four empty free cells you can move five cards; every empty column doubles that. When the destination itself is an empty column, that column does not count toward the doubling.
FreeCell Strategy
- Free the Aces and 2s early. Cards that must go to the foundations first are worth digging for before anything else.
- Keep free cells empty. Every occupied cell shrinks the run you can move. Park a card only when it unlocks something better.
- Empty a column on purpose. An empty column is the most powerful resource in the game, worth far more than a free cell.
- Plan before you move. Look for the card you need next and count what sits on top of it.
- Use Undo freely. Trying a line and taking it back is part of the game, and Hint shows a move that keeps the deal winnable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can every FreeCell deal be won?
