Scorpion Solitaire: How the Stock and Moving Work

Scorpion looks like Spider, but its two most surprising rules are that you can carry cards that are not in order and that you can deal the stock whenever you like. Here is how both work.

Moving cards

A card goes on a card of the same suit that is one rank higher, so the 9 of spades goes on the 10 of spades. You can move any face-up card together with every card on top of it. The cards you carry do not have to be in order; only the card you pick up has to fit its new column. Only a King, or a group that starts with a King, can go into an empty column.

The stock

49 cards are dealt into seven columns of seven; in the first four columns the first three cards are face down. The last three cards form the stock. Tap it to deal its three cards face up onto the ends of the first three columns, one each. You can do this at any time, even if a column is empty, and the stock is dealt only once.

Winning

You win when all four suits are built from King down to Ace. When a column ends with a whole suit, its 13 cards are removed. Uncover the face-down cards first, and make room for Kings. Read the Scorpion guide or play Scorpion. The rules are close to Alaska and Russian Solitaire.
