Spider vs Spiderette: What Is the Difference?

Spiderette is a smaller version of Spider. The moving and dealing rules match, but the size of the game does not. Here is a side-by-side view so you can pick the one that suits your time.

Side by side

FeatureSpiderSpiderette
Decks2 (104 cards)1 (52 cards)
Columns107
Runs to build84
Stock deals5 deals of 10 cards3 deals of 7 and a last deal of 3

In both games you build down in any suit, move only same-suit runs together, cannot deal while a column is empty, and have no redeal. Suit modes are 1, 2 and 4 in both.

Which should you play first?

Spiderette is shorter, so a game fits a short break and a lost game costs less time. Spider is longer and has more room to recover. Either way, start with 1 suit. See how many suits a beginner should pick, then read the Spider and Spiderette guides.
