Free Pyramid Solitaire Online
Pyramid is a solitaire game of pairs: clear a pyramid of 28 cards by removing two cards at a time that add up to 13. Solitaire Play offers Pyramid in your browser for free, with Hint, Undo and a daily challenge, and no download or sign-up.
Official Rules & Scoring
The goal is to remove all 28 cards of the pyramid. Card values: Ace = 1, number cards = their number, Jack = 11, Queen = 12, King = 13.
- Free cards: a pyramid card can be used only when no card lies on top of it, that is, both cards of the row below that touch it are already gone. The bottom row is free from the start.
- Pairs: remove two free cards whose values add up to 13, such as 6 and 7, or Queen and Ace. A King is worth 13 and is removed on its own.
- Stock and waste: tap the stock to turn one card onto the waste. The top waste card can be paired with a free pyramid card, or removed if it is a King.
- Passes: when the stock runs out you can turn the waste back into the stock twice, so you see the stock up to three times in total.
- How to select: tap one card, then tap its partner; or drag a card onto its partner. Tap the selected card again to cancel.
Pairs That Make 13
Ace + Queen, 2 + Jack, 3 + 10, 4 + 9, 5 + 8 and 6 + 7. Only the King stands alone. Because every value from Ace to Queen has exactly one partner, it pays to count which partners are still hidden under the pyramid before you remove a card.
Strategy & Tips
- Free the deep cards. the pyramid is only cleared when its top card is gone, so prefer pairs that uncover cards in the middle rows.
- Count partners. before you remove a 5, check that an 8 is still available; do not use up a partner you will need later.
- Kings are free. a free King can always be removed alone, so take it when it uncovers something.
- Draw with a plan. look at the waste card before turning the next one, and use every pass of the stock.
- Use Undo and Hint. experiment freely; Hint shows the next move of a winning line when the solver finds one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can every Pyramid deal be won?
No. Many random Pyramid deals have no winning line. Solitaire Play does not pre-screen Pyramid deals; the Solver in the menu can tell you whether the current position can still be won.
How many times can I go through the stock?
Three times in total: the stock plus two turn-overs of the waste.
Does a King need a partner?
No. A King is worth 13, so it is removed by itself as soon as it is free.
Where are the other solitaire games?
Klondike is on the home page, and FreeCell, Spider and TriPeaks have their own pages.
